Luxury Vehicle Thefts Increasing in Toronto, Canada

The Toronto police organized crime unit has warned owners of luxury cars and SUVs to exercise caution, as a group of car thieves have broken into homes, looking for car keys.

Investigators said homes in north end of the city and south Etobicoke have been the prime targets and are concerned about potential confrontations between the thieves and homeowners.

Since most of today’s luxury cars and SUVs are equipped with anti-theft devices, making them difficult to steal without the keys, many of the vehicles are being stolen through residential break-ins.

Police have asked that people park their vehicles in a locked garage when possible, to always lock the doors and windows in their homes and be aware of suspicious people and vehicles in their neighbourhood.
