The curse of the Bambino may be over but this season baseball captured America’s interest once again by reviving the legend of Babe Ruth. Sotheby’s New York is auctioning off important baseball memorabilia on December 2, 2004.
Up for grabs is the signed bat which Babe Ruth used to hit the first home run in Yankee Stadium on April 18, 1923 against the Boston Red Sox. A rare program from that day is also on the auction block. Other treats include rare baseball cards and signed photographs.
The entire offering of more than 300 items will be on public exhibition at Sotheby’s in New York from Friday, November 26th to Wednesday, December 1st.
