Bang & Olufsen was rated the most prestigious luxury video brand by a wide margin in the 2007 Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey from the independent New York-based Luxury Institute. Nakamichi was rated a distant second, Sony placed third.
“When it comes to luxury video, wealthy consumers voted Bang & Olufsen by far the most prestigious brand,” said Milton Pedraza, CEO of the Luxury institute.
“Many brands compete in this commoditized category, where branding becomes ever more critical in the luxury home as technology and design evolve and sizes increase. This impartial survey is a quantitative guide for wealthy consumers, and industry executives, as to brand rankings according to what their best customers perceive.”
Brands rated (alphabetical order) included:

The summary results of this survey are available to members of the Luxury Board, the world’s first online community for luxury professionals, executives, and entrepreneurs.
The proprietary Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI) survey is the only measure of the reputation of leading brands among wealthy Americans. A national sample of over 1,600 wealthy American consumers, with an average income of $313K, and average net worth of $3.3 million, was surveyed online.
Survey results are weighted to match demographic and net worth profiles of the same audience according to the latest Survey of Consumer Finances from The Federal Reserve.
