Sotheby’s New York will run a sale of Magnificent Jewels on December 7, 2004. The star of the show will most likely be this fancy yellow diamond that once belonged to His Late Imperial Majesty Soltan Ahmed Shah Kadjar, King of the Kadjar Dynasty of Persia, who reigned from 1909 to 1925.
This old-mine diamond weighs 74.64 carats and is mounted as a pendant set with 22 smaller diamonds. It is estimated to sell for over $750,000. Other noteworthy pieces include a 1930s Cartier diamond bracelet, several large diamond rings and a variety of vintage brooches and bracelets.
