6 Columbus: The Uptown Chic

The 88-room Columbus Circle hotel is the second New York property in the Thompson Hotel stable of “urban retreats”. Following the footsteps of its trendy SoHo sister, 6 Columbus flashes a mod-1960’s elegance designed by Thompson Hotel favorite Steven Sclaroff — that means teak and chrome accents coupled with sleek and sexy furniture.

Bedroom amenities, meanwhile, are rooted strictly in the current century with modern gadgets and TV. But even if you’re not shacking up here, the hotel warrants a visit for the Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill (the sixth incarnation of the Blue Ribbon dynasty), and a multilevel rooftop bar — which promises the same members-only swank of SoHo’s A60.
