Japanese Man Arrested for Free Ride on Luxury Liner

A 40-year-old Japanese man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly took a free ride on a British luxury liner Aurora that docked at a Japanese port earlier this month and was deported back to Japan from Hawaii on Wednesday, police said.

According to Kyodo News, Osamu Ikegame is suspected of climbing over an around 3-meter fence on March 20 and entering the premises of the passenger terminal at Yokohama Port, just before the liner departed for Honolulu.

Crew found him after departure and he was sent back from Honolulu by plane, the police said. Ikegame, a resident of Fuchu, Tokyo, admitted to the allegations, saying he “wanted to get on a luxury liner,” according to the police.
